It's... a really long story. But I guess we have time.
[ me in grateful tears that you know the bbs lore, gomen this is basically a memshare c/p, IT'S W0...!!!!!!!!!!!
aqua will tell robin about the two boys she'd grown up with, under the tutelage of their master. she was around 18 or so when she first left home, sent to protect the worlds and to keep watch over terra and ventus.
she tells her how it all falls apart: their master struck down, their home crumbling to ruin. how their last great battle ended with ventus in a deep slumber, how she had to lock him away for his own safety. how she searched for terra, who had come to lose his body, and had fought the man who had taken possession of him to save his heart.
and then, finally, she tells her how she fell into darkness to save him—a place where time doesn't pass, a sprawling nightmare stretched into countless hours, days, weeks, years. how she lost her chance to escape, and has been waiting ever since for someone to return... ]
[ AQUA REALLY IS TELLING HER EVERYTHING. this is what it means to be disney. bursts into tears because i love aqua
it pulls at robin's heart, the trials and tribulations that aqua has had to experience. the responsibility she has to bear, the pain and loneliness she must have endured, the extent she went to save the people dear to her. it saddens her, but she recognizes the strength aqua has to still be as she is now, to hold all her kindness and resolve even after being lost in darkness for so long.
she gives aqua's hand a gentle squeeze. ]
Miss Aqua... you have a strength no words can reach for all you've had to experience. Your love is admirable, and you do not deserve to endure that darkness any longer than you already have.
her words are touching, if not generous—and the sentiment is easily returned to her. robin too knows what loss is like, and yet she is so unwavering in her kindness, even in a place like this. willing to extend her care to a stranger she's only just met.
her warmth has the same clarity as her voice—it's comforting. ]
Thank you, Robin. That's kind of you to say. My strength isn't mine alone—I share it with my friends.
[ she nods in answer to her next question, and, after a pause, ]
...Will you tell me about yourself? I've gone on for much too long.
she thinks aqua's bonds are heartwarming, and her love of her friends is admirable. ]
Your friends are blessed to have you, but... if you wish.
[ her life is written and reported in so many interviews back home. she has long accepted that much of her past will be known. ]
When asked, I've often described my life like a song. It starts off solemn before it comes brighter. My hometown was destroyed when I was young, and that was when I lost my mother. My brother and I were adopted by the Family, who are prominent figures in the Planet of Dreams I told you about. That's where I was raised and educated... and that's how and where I received my start as a singer.
[ her past being well-known doesn't make it any less tragic, and aqua's expression softens as she listens. she returns the gentle squeeze that robin had given her earlier. ]
...I wish it weren't such a sad song. I'm sorry to hear that.
[ robin had mentioned her brother was all the family she had left, but now she understands even more clearly exactly what that means. how she no longer has that home to return to, how she was whisked off to an entirely different life that she had no part in choosing. ]
Did you wish to become a singer? This Family... what are they like?
[ prominent figures, yes, but are they kind to robin? to her brother? ]

Is this someone who is the key to your escape?
