I agree! There must be a reason why we were summoned here. If they leave us alone for too long, we'll start to get restless!

Did you come here to offer prayers? I wouldn't want to interrupt.

I was hoping to see if there was anything new that could offer answers. It would not feel right to me to offer prayers in a church whose beliefs I did not understand.

week 0, sunday

[sonorant]

[ it's been a weekend, but that doesn't stop robin from going around even if she is a little subdued. ]

Mr. Iwatooshi. How are things?

[ how about those rituals ]

[naginota]

[ girl same. iwatooshi is far from his usual, boisterous self - lost in thought as he wanders the village restlessly. ]

I'm finding that I dislike rituals, Robin-dono. They always seem to have unforeseen side effects that go very poorly, and cause nothing but distress. [ ... ] I would prefer to fight than deal with these rituals. It is much easier.

[sonorant]

There is nothing to like about these rituals. It is easy to see they don't care about anything unforeseen as long as the result gets them what they want.

If only it could be as straightforward as a fight. We would have our fate at hand.

You're right, they don't. It makes it all the more frustrating that they hide behind their fog. We can't fight against an enemy we can't see.

week 2, monday

[ I WANT A MEMORY IN RETURN. I'M STATING THAT FIRST, but i'm still writing my memories up. you'll get it in the next tag.

robin is going to flag iwatooshi down with a raised hand. ]

Good day, Mr. Iwatooshi. [ is it? ] You don't have to answer this question if you don't wish to, but after last week, I wanted to see how people felt about the monster affinity partnership. Have you found your partner, and if you haven't, do you want to?

[ help me god this week got away from me IT'S FINE WE WERE ALL BLINDSIDED BY MEMSHARE THIS WEEK. ]

Ah! [ so direct! ] Yes, I found my partner just last Thursday. I wasn't looking, exactly, but they found me.

[sonorant]

[ we're all in this together.... i've been slow as hell and losing track of all my tabs/tags. ]

Oh, congratulations. [ if he isn't mad about it.... she hopes it's okay. ] Happenstance and luck are a part of life.

[ and so are shadows this week. ]

Thank you. I'm happy to be partnered with them. [ he does consider himself quite lucky!

but oof, that memory though. while he may not understand everything happening, iwatooshi still has to take a moment before looking back at robin. ]

week 6, monday

[sonorant]

[ they can run into each other anywhere because robin is still so new and looking around. she smiles when she sees iwatooshi. ]

Mr. Iwatooshi, hello. Are Mondays usually so eventful on this side?

[naginota]

[ he smiles back easily! ]

Mm, for better or worse. On the first Monday after I arrived, the hospital caught fire and was blocked off. A handful of us were injured by it.

...There are more curses now, I suppose, but I think those are better than more injuries or deaths.

[sonorant]

The hospital?

[ hello? ]

Why caught ablaze in the hospital? You didn't have the spring back then, did you?

[ she's too alarmed by this to continue the other conversation topic. ]

[naginota]

I'm not sure what happened, exactly. When I asked Lucas-dono, he merely said it caught fire, and the door locked on its own.

We didn't have the springs, no, but Nehan-dono took care of us in the aftermath.

week 6, saturday

[naginota]

[ robin can find him seated on a bench somewhere, arms tucked into the sleeves of his yukata, just looking up at the night sky. he'll give her a small smile when he hears her, though. ]

Ah, Robin-dono. Care to join me? It's been a long day.

[sonorant]

[ stargazing is something she can do. she comes over and takes a seat next to him. ]

It has been. The last few minutes of that... were so quick and yet seemed to last way too long.

[naginota]

It feels like that happens so often with these trial rituals. Watching someone afflicted lost control, attacking the rest while they remember to vote... It gets incredibly frustrating, when all you can do is watch.

How are you feeling, after watching from this side for the first time?

[sonorant]

[ her feelings are kind of weird after the past couple of days, so it's hard for her to parse it all. ]

It's... odd. It is spectating in a way that.... feels odd. But it does weigh, to see how they handle things from afar.

To not be able to warn.

week 7, tuesday

[sonorant]

[ monday was such a day! wow, so much happened.

so much.... happened. anyway, it's a new day. it's tuesday. she waves to iwatooshi with a smile.. ]

Do you think today will be calmer?

[naginota]

[ sighs. ]

I should hope so. I think we should be allowed a quiet day to think about our options before making any decisions... It's impossible to do that with so many curses flying around.

[sonorant]

[ well.... well!!

maybe not for a couple days, but eventually. she nods. ]

I know we're all stressed, and there is only so much time before those items.... won't matter.

[ she can get why they're being used but also, she likes some peace. ]

[naginota]

True. And some of the curses are more harmless - those are fine. But I also don't want to spend our last days with all our friends here suffering from them.

...I suppose it can't be helped, either way. We'll just have to deal with whatever happens.
